wondering why? what on earth has brought this on, you ask??
evidence below.
yes, my friends, those are doors. big ol' hollow-core doors. being turned into big ol' collages. a series of 3 to be exact. to hang together at a local hair salon. and yes, it was my idea. i saw the size of the walls she has there (16 feet) and started thinking big.huge.
in multiple.
dude.
i think i must have gone temporarily insane, which as i said, has turned into full-on crazy upon actually having them in the studio and working on them!
this is hard.
fun.
challenging.
but, wow! especially, probably, since i just came off working in 2" x 3" and 4" x 4" format. but either way, i had no idea what i was getting myself into. or maybe i did?? at any rate, talk about stepping outside the box! and in gathering together all the stuff, and putting things in a new work area...not sitting at the desk working on these!...this is what part of the studio looks like right now....
lucky for me i have lots of help, though!
trying to think hair salon, fashion, color, etc,. etc....pattern girls (pre art girls!) being used in abundance...
and just when you think you can't take it anymore...little hands come bearing gifts...puts it all in perspective.so sweet.
and i spent the better of one day this week planting seeds in the cold frame. much-needed therapy.
ahhh.
notice the little markers at the front...those tell me what's what and who's who in there. we shall see in a week or 2 who decides to show their little seedling heads!
and i turned this corner, right next to the cold frame into my little outdoor garden office! and yes, i really did use it for several hours the other day...sat right there and got all my seeds and labels and what-not organized and ready....might be the smartest thing i've done lately!

Hi Amy
WOW. I think this is sooooooo very cool. I have long thought about collaging some of our family room walls...yup, right on the walls but I have yet to give it a try so I will have to watch your progress. I think it's an awesome idea by the way and it's always good to go way outside the norm for some serious art growth. I think you are well on your way. btw, love your work.
Susie
You go girl.
What a fantastic project, getting your teeth stuck into such a great challenge. I shall really look forward to watching your progress.
